 Our Ministries

 Teen Moms

Parenting Skills, Life Skills, and Spiritual Development are the primary objectives of our program. We hope to assist our young women to become good parents.

Emphasis is on the importance of early childhood bonding, healthy emotional and mental development as well as physical and spiritual development. We are available to help the moms with special interventions on an as-needed basis.

Our Teen Mom support group meets each Monday night at the First Baptist Church, 401 N. Genesee St. in Waukegan. We provide transportation and childcare during our meetings and a full dinner at the close of the meetings.

The following pledge captures the spirit of our meetings:

Together we hope to achieve the following goals:
  1. To become a healthy and happy woman
  2. To learn to become a loving and nurturing mother
  3. To grow as a child of God's family
  4. To support my sisters in their joys and struggles
  5. To affirm the unique experiences and contributions of each person
  6. To try to make a difference in the world in which we live.
We dedicate ourselves to one another in love as Christ enables us.

 Youth

We are able to provide a week at camp for many young people with whom we come in contact through our program as well as individuals in our neighborhoods. Some of the kids are children of teen moms who were in the program when Donna first began working in 1987. So it is especially gratifying to be able to be a continuing influence in the lives of children who remember the childcare program of Teen Moms as a highlight of their week.

We are planning a Bible Correspondence Course for the youth who attended camp this summer. Our hope is that they will become grounded in the Word of God and able to internalize a seed faith that will lead to spiritual maturity.
